February 3, 2020 0

On 31 October 2019 The MEC for Police, Roads and Transport, Hon. Sam Mashinini, joined by Nala Local Municipality Mayor, Councillor Mokgoje, and other Departmental stakeholders opened the new R727 road linking Bothaville and Kroonstad.

The completion of the road is a great achievement for the Department and a life time investment for the community of Nala. The project not only enhanced the attractiveness of Bothaville but it has also benefited the community through job creation and skills transfer.

The community of Nala Local Municipality came in numbers to show their gratitude for all the jobs that have been created to complete the road. One of the community members stood up and said that she wished that the Department could carry on with the great work and do the same in other towns. She said that the new road will definitely save a lot of lives.

Bothaville is one of the richest agricultural communities in the country. It is a proud host of the biggest agricultural show in Africa and acts as the main centre of the Free State agricultural main route. People – especially those with interest in agriculture will benefit from this newly upgraded road.

The R727 is 45.5km long and its rehabilitation commenced in 2016.
